After 10 successful years in a row, the 11th annual Summit for Clinical Ops Executives (SCOPE) takes place February 18th - 21st at the Hyatt Regency Orlando in Orlando, FL. Over the course of four amazing days this summit will consist of in-depth discussions in 20 different conferences, 3 plenary keynote sessions, the annual Participant Engagement Awards, and the ever-popular interactive breakout discussions. SCOPE 2020 focuses on the latest advances and innovative solutions throughout all aspects of clinical trial planning, management and operations. Registration is still open but very limited in supply, so if you’re thinking of visiting this important event, be sure to promptly register at your earliest convenience. There are multiple types of registration packages with fees ranging from $1,450 to $3,099, which includes access to the entire 4-day SCOPE conferences plus Tuesday evening’s pre-conference plenary keynote panel and the networking happy hour.

For such large scale events as SCOPE 2020, it can quickly become overwhelming for a team of company attendees, particularly if limited in size. With so much potential ground to cover, making the most of your time and investment is key, so we’ve put a few tips together for planning out your time in Orlando:

Know the area and activities

SCOPE 2020 is organized by Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI), a world-class network of events for leading researchers and business experts from top pharmaceutical, biotech and academic organizations. The CHI group is always on the cutting edge of clinical development and technology, and the additions to this event for the 2020 schedule include new programs, an increased number of exhibitors, and a host of new and exciting features with more attendees expected than ever before. Last year’s event was very successful with an impressive executive audience at SCOPE, including over half of the attendees titled as a decision maker from leading Pharma, CROs, and Biotech companies. All of the industry leaders and key decision makers that attended the 2019 event represented over 28 different countries and included more than 700 companies sharing case studies and collaborating on best practices. This expansive diversity within the event provided unique insight and included many perspectives on the most important issues facing the clinical industry today.

The upcoming 2020 event is even larger and will have so many different activities that it will be difficult to keep track of everything without the proper planning before the conference. For an overview of the conference activities and features, be sure to check the SCOPE 2020 website for the current agenda. Alternatively, you can also download a PDF version of the agenda by filling out this form on their website. There will be numerous programs and topics included in this year’s event covering everything from Quality (QbD) in Trial Conduct and Risk-Based Monitoring to Data Strategy and Clinical Trial Analytics, and even an all-new educational track on Medical Device Clinical Trial Operations and Regulations. If you’re interested in attending and want to know more about the programs, check out the SCOPE 2020 programs for more details.

Some of the features and benefits that you will have access to during the 4-day event, including:

  • 20% growth for 4 consecutive years
  • 2,000+ participants
  • 20+ conferences
  • 12+ program tracks
  • 180+ exhibitors

One of the best activities to attend during the event is called the Scope Scientific Symposium (SSS). The new SSS provides a forum where academics, sponsors, CROs, and others interested in learning more about clinical trials can discuss the latest and most promising research that advances how clinical trials currently operate in the industry. The symposium’s main goal is to focus on research that can improve all of the old processes that are in many ways very outdated and in dire need of repair, and by increasing the efficiencies of clinical trials in general. The panelists will be discussing some of the most promising research and technologies that will help increase efficiencies by bringing data-driven, scientific practices to clinical research and operations. The panelists will discuss promising research and technologies that can bring data-driven, scientific practices to clinical research design and execution. The improvements discussed will potentially result in better decision-making in new drug evaluations, providing patients with broader and quicker access to novel medications, and an overall increased efficiency in clinical trial management. Be sure not to miss this unique opportunity and be sure to register for your seat during this important part of the event.

There will be over 150+ speakers throughout all of the multiple programs and education tracks covering everything from Sensors, Wearables and Digital Biomarkers in Clinical Trials to Clinical Biomarkers Operations and Innovation. Be sure to check out all of the speaker sessions if you have a chance, including 3 plenary keynote sessions, the annual Participant Engagement Awards, and the ever-popular interactive breakout discussions.

Identify the right companies to meet

There will be dozens of ways to interact and engage with companies at SCOPE 2020. In addition to visiting exhibit booths and catching meetings, you will be able to attend multiple instructional functions through the various programs and interactive break out discussions. Afterwards you will have access to a huge amount of new educational and company information across the vast array of activities within the clinical operations landscape.

Besides all of the educational tracks and programs, speaker sessions and networking events, there will be over 180 different exhibitors to explore at SCOPE 2020. From large multinational companies to unique clinical operations groups, you will be sure to find new and interesting services and potential partnerships during the walk through the exhibitor area. For a complete list of all the companies and sponsors that will be exhibiting during the show, be sure to check out the 2020 Sponsor List for more details. Another great way to prepare for the exhibition hall is to explore the interactive floorplan, to help find specific companies that you’re interested in speaking with and lay out your plans for navigating the show. The interactive map is a great tool for anyone interested in making the most of their time at the SCOPE 2020.

One of the best ways to identify the right companies to meet during SCOPE 2020 will actually happen before you arrive in Orlando! As a registered attendee, you will automatically become a part of SCOPE’s 1-on-1 Networking Service, a valuable tool will give you the ability to set meetings ahead of time with the online meeting scheduler and view the attendee list for the upcoming event. This service allows you to quickly build connections with fellow clinical trial professionals, define your conference goals and interests in your professional profile, search other attendee’s profiles, and send or accept meeting requests. Access to 1-on-1 Networking Service will be available to registered conference participants only and will launch two weeks prior to the event, so make sure to register your team as soon as possible!

Find out who’s going

Tuesday 18th will kick-off with the pre-conference user group meetings and hosted workshops, China clinical development partnering forum, and the SCOPE scientific symposium. These activities will be followed by kick-off plenary keynote & participant engagement awards and SCOPE’s networking happy hour. After all of the pre-conference activities, Wednesday through Friday will be jam-packed with all of the conference programs, educational tracks and break out sessions. In addition to all of these speaker sessions and presentations, there will be over 180 exhibitors to explore, so make sure to leave room for networking with potential solution providers as well as other attendees!

In addition to the official 2020 agenda and downloadable brochure, you can also check out the event at a glance. The event at a glance PDF is a very good overview of what unique programs, interactive breakout discussions and speaker sessions will be on each particular day of the conference, so be sure to check the website if you’re interested in attending. Another good way to determine if your team should visit the show is by reviewing the full attendee list of companies, and you will have the ability to find out what companies are currently going to be attending and exhibiting at SCOPE 2020.
